Scope
Positioning, identity, signage, daily menu system, matchbooks and coasters, interior art direction
Status
Speculative — developed in-house to demonstrate a full brand build

The assignment

Wine bars either perform heritage or perform minimalism. Both read as costume. We wanted a hospitality brand that felt like somewhere with history it hasn't explained yet.

Second House is built on a single idea — the place you go after the first place. Late, low-lit, records playing loud enough to matter and quiet enough to talk over.

The thinking

The identity is treated like a printed archive: a daily menu typeset fresh, matchbooks, coasters, a hand-set signage mark that looks inherited rather than commissioned.

Oxblood on unbleached paper. A serif that has been reset too many times. The listening room does the rest — the brand's real medium is the room, and every printed object is a souvenir of it.

The best hospitality brands are not designed to be looked at. They are designed to be taken home in a pocket.

Brand system

Voice

  • Register — Understated, dry, a little nocturnal
  • Copy — Written as notes, not announcements
  • Never — Curated, artisanal, elevated, journey

Print system

  • Menu — Reset daily, dated, never laminated
  • Take-aways — Matchbooks and coasters as the primary distribution
  • Signage — Painted mark, aged on purpose

The work

The outcome

Second House shows AG&CO. building a hospitality brand where the identity is inseparable from the room. Print, signage and photography are all pointing at the same feeling: somewhere specific, late, and worth staying at.

It is the proof that a brand can be built out of atmosphere without ever using the word.
